Step Up From Hobby Work to Production Output
Hobby-grade routers can lose consistency in batch work for two reasons. The operator has to stop and swap tools by hand, and the machine can drift out of position under load. The PRONAX Forge addresses both. Its integrated 5-slot automatic tool changer (ATC) holds the cutters for a job, so roughing, profiling and V-carving can run in sequence without an operator touching the collet, which reduces a common source of variation and interruption in batch work. The NAX5 ATC system and PRONAX machines are designed and validated together, and because compatibility is limited to the Spark and Forge, the changer is intended to work within the machine’s control system rather than being added to it.
Closed-loop motors in the NEMA24 frame size (a standard from the National Electrical Manufacturers Association, NEMA) are rated at 3.5 newton metres (N·m) and monitor their own position and correct errors, which helps reduce the chance of a lost step spoiling a part partway through a run. Ball screws on linear rails then move the gantry accurately and repeatably across the full 800 × 800 mm working area, which supports consistent positioning from the first panel in a batch to the last. The 1605 ball screws on X/Y and 1204 on Z, paired with HG20 rails on X and HG15 on Z, are the hardware behind that repeatability. The 2.2 kilowatt (kW) spindle, with speed controlled by a variable frequency drive (VFD) across 0 to 18,000 revolutions per minute (RPM), lets you match speed to the material and tool, while a metal frame and 68.5 kg of machine weight give it a stable base for production cutting. Together, these specs make a larger-format machine that is well-suited to stepping up from hobby work to repeatable production output.
Workflow Advantages
- Integrated 5-slot ATC — Load your tools once and run multi-step jobs knowing the machine will handle each change.
- 2.2 kW air-cooled spindle — Take on production cuts with a spindle sized for regular shop use, so larger jobs sit comfortably within the machine's capability.
- 800 × 800 mm working area — Quote larger panels, signs and furniture components with confidence, knowing the bed has room for them.
- Ball screws and linear rails — Hold accuracy across repeat runs, so batch parts stay consistent and you can deliver to customers with greater certainty.
- Closed-loop NEMA24 motors — Run jobs with less concern about lost steps, so your attention can go to the next order instead of rechecking the last one.
- GRBL 1.1f controller compatibility — Work with familiar, widely supported software built on GRBL (an open-source G-code motion control firmware), so you keep control of your workflow instead of being tied to one proprietary system.
- Offline control — Start and manage jobs at the machine, which frees your computer and lets you step away from a desk to focus on the shop floor.
- XYZ limit switches and emergency stop — Run production with the safeguards a working shop expects, so you and your team can work with confidence.
- Expandability options — Add a manual pulse generator (MPG), 4th axis, dust shoe or vacuum fixture as your business grows, and take on more advanced work as demand increases.
- ATC-ready production path — Plan your move into multi-tool production with a machine built around that goal, so the step up from hobby work is a planned one.
Why Kyro Machines Recommends Genmitsu
Genmitsu builds computer numerical control (CNC) machines for makers, sign shops, woodworking studios and small manufacturers. In the PRONAX range, the NAX5 automatic tool changer (ATC) system is designed and validated together with the machines, with compatibility limited to the PRONAX Spark and Forge.
Kyro Machines carries a selective range, and each machine is chosen for its reliability, capability and real-world performance. Only equipment we are prepared to stand behind makes it into the range. Every purchase is backed by our Australian-based after-sales team, who are available locally when you need them.
