A fibre laser generates its beam through a doped fibre optic cable rather than a gas tube or diode. This is what allows it to produce a tightly focused 1064nm wavelength beam — the wavelength best absorbed by metals — which is why it can mark stainless steel, titanium, gold and silver cleanly, rather than just scorching the surface.
That beam is then steered by an industrial-grade galvo system, using mirrors to redirect the laser at speed instead of moving the whole print head. This is what makes ±0.001mm repeat accuracy and speeds up to 15,000mm/s possible at the same time — because the only thing moving is a lightweight mirror, not a mechanical carriage. On a ring or small engraved item, even a fractional shift in beam placement is visible, so the precision of the galvo is what protects the quality of fine, detailed work.
Because the fibre laser is solid-state, with no gas mixture to replenish and no misaligning optics to manage, it holds its calibration over repeated use — which is why the machine can go from one job to the next without needing to be re-tuned each time.
