The M1 brings engraving in-house because of how its enclosure and motion system work together, not simply because it includes a laser. A CoreXY gantry drives both axes through a coordinated belt system rather than independent motors per axis, which is why it can hold 0.01 mm positioning accuracy even at speeds up to 36,000 mm/min, because the two axes move in sync so higher speed doesn't come at the cost of drift or misalignment. That combination of speed and accuracy is what makes the machine viable for repeat production work, rather than one-off hobby pieces, because every run lands in the same place as the last.

The fully enclosed housing is what makes in-house engraving realistic in the first place, since containing fumes, light, and debris within a 485 × 378 × 200 mm footprint means the machine can sit on a working floor without a dedicated extraction setup, which is usually the real barrier to bringing engraving in-house. A tight 0.08–0.1 mm spot size lets the laser resolve fine detail on the 305 × 205 mm bed, so the precision built into the motion system isn't wasted on a laser that can't cut a clean line.

Because the diode module is upgradeable to 22W or swappable for a 2W IR laser, the same gantry and enclosure can take on heavier cutting or different material types later, so the capability grows with the work instead of requiring a different machine.
