Move Up to Production-Grade Printing
The Q2's hands-free levelling relies on a loadcell sensor built into the hot end rather than the strain gauges or proximity switches used on entry-level printers. This measures actual contact force against the bed instead of an approximation — the reason a Q2 print starts flat even on a plate that isn't perfectly square.
That same attention to physical accuracy carries through the frame. A CoreXY layout on a full-metal chassis, paired with a high-hardness linear guide rail on the X-axis and a 1.5GT custom belt, keeps the toolhead tracking true at speeds up to 600 mm/s and accelerations up to 20,000 mm/s², so higher speed doesn't come at the cost of dimensional accuracy.
Getting engineering filaments to hold together requires managing heat, not just applying it. Second-generation active chamber heating maintains a stable 65°C environment, slowing the cooling rate of each layer so ABS, PC and ABS-GF bond properly instead of warping or delaminating as they would in an open frame.
Reinforced materials add a second challenge: carbon and glass fibre are abrasive enough to wear through a standard brass nozzle within a handful of prints. This is why the Q2 uses a bimetal hardened-steel nozzle rated to 370°C, holding tolerance across long production runs rather than just the first one.
An AI camera monitoring the build for early signs of failure, combined with power-loss recovery, means a run can proceed unattended for hours without the risk of returning to a ruined print and wasted material. Each of these systems targets a specific point where entry-level machines lose accuracy or reliability — which is what allows the Q2 to move from prototyping into repeatable, production-grade output.
Workflow Advantages
- Loadcell-based nozzle levelling — Start every print with confidence that your first layer will hold, without spending time on manual calibration.
- Second-generation active chamber heating (65°C) — Take on ABS, PC and reinforced composites knowing the chamber is doing the work to keep parts strong and dimensionally stable.
- CoreXY full metal frame with high hardness linear rail — Run larger, more complex prints at speed with confidence in dimensional accuracy.
- AI camera with spaghetti detection — Step away from the printer during long runs, knowing a failure is flagged early rather than going unnoticed.
- QIDI Box compatibility for multi-colour printing — Take on multi-material and multi-colour projects that a single-extruder setup couldn't handle.
- 3-in-1 air filtration system — Run engineering filaments indoors, in a workshop or shared space, without compromising on air quality or safety.
- Automatic hands-free bed levelling — Spend less time on setup and more time producing, print after print.
- Bimetal hardened steel nozzle — Work with abrasive, reinforced filaments knowing print quality won't degrade partway through a production run.
- Power loss recovery — Protect long, high-value prints from being lost to an unexpected outage.
Why Kyro Machines Recommends QIDI
The Q2 carries MET certification. MET was the first Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory accredited by OSHA, more than 30 years ago, and the MET safety mark is recognised across the US and Canada as an established product safety standard.
Kyro Machines selects a limited range of machines, and the Q2 meets the standard we apply when assessing equipment for genuine production use. Every machine we sell is backed by Australian-based after-sales support, so servicing and technical queries are handled locally rather than through an overseas support desk.
