Take Certified Accuracy Wherever the Job Takes You
Most portable scanners lose accuracy the moment they move away from fixed reference points, which is why traditional metrology work has stayed tethered to a CMM. The FreeScan Omni Lite solves this with SHINING 3D's patented Video Photogrammetry (VPG), which replaces the need for coded markers on the part itself. Instead, a calibration rod and continuous video capture allow the scanner to verify its own position in real time as it moves, and this is the reason it can hold volumetric accuracy of 0.02 + 0.03 mm/m even across large or complex geometry.
Because verification happens live rather than in post-processing, the scanner doesn't drift the way marker-based systems can over long or repositioned scans, so accuracy is maintained by design rather than corrected afterward. Onboard computing carries this through the rest of the workflow, since scanning, meshing, inspection, and reporting all run on the device itself, meaning there's no data handoff to a separate workstation that could introduce delay or error between capture and result.
This is also why the platform can be certified to VDI/VDE 2634 Part 3 and ISO 10360 and run PTB-certified software, as the accuracy is built into how the scanner measures itself rather than simply claimed after the fact. The four scanning modes, ranging from a 93-line high-speed pass to a single-line deep pocket mode, exist because different part geometries place different demands on that same self-verifying system, so the operator can choose the right level of detail without accuracy dropping at the edges.

Workflow Advantages
- Fully wireless operation — Move through the shop floor or field site without cable runs or power tethers, so inspection fits into the job rather than around it.
- Certified 0.02 mm accuracy — Sign off on results with confidence that they will hold up under audit.
- Onboard scan-to-inspect workflow — Complete the entire job on the device itself, without waiting on a separate workstation to confirm a result.
- AI-driven boundary detection — Let the scanner identify round holes, rectangular holes, and slots automatically, reducing setup time and manual judgement.
- VDI/VDE 2634 and ISO 10360 certification — Present results that meet recognised international standards, without needing to justify the method.
- Detachable battery swapping — Keep inspection running across a full shift without stopping for downtime.
- Modular, expandable architecture — Invest in a platform designed to grow alongside more demanding inspection requirements.
- Multiple scanning modes — Match the scan strategy to the part in front of you, from broad captures through to fine detail.
- Automated reporting and export — Turn a completed scan into a finished report without a separate write-up step.
Why Kyro Machines Recommends Shining 3D
The FreeScan Omni Lite is built on SHINING 3D's patented Video Photogrammetry technology and carries certification to VDI/VDE 2634 Part 3 and ISO 10360, backed by PTB-certified software. These are the standards that metrology teams look for when accuracy needs to hold up to audit. The platform was also recognised with a Red Dot Award in 2026, an independent design award that reflects strong engineering beyond metrology-specific benchmarks alone.
Kyro Machines includes the FreeScan Omni Lite in its range because it meets the standard we apply to every machine, which is reliability and real-world performance. Every purchase is backed by our Australian-based after-sales team, so support is close at hand whenever you need it.
