Accurate On-Site Inspection Without Marker Setup
Traditional structured-light and laser scanners rely on physical markers to track position, because the scanner needs a fixed reference to stitch multiple scans into one accurate 3D model.
The FreeScan Trio removes that requirement by using SHINING 3D's patented Video Photogrammetry (VPG) technology, which relies on its three 5 MP industrial cameras to continuously observe the part's geometry and track the scanner's position in real time. This works because the cameras capture enough visual reference from the part's own surface features to calculate position accurately, without needing markers to anchor the data.
That's what allows the FreeScan Trio to maintain consistent volumetric accuracy even on large or geometrically complex components, where marker placement would otherwise be time-consuming or impractical.
The 98-line laser system builds on this by covering broad surface areas efficiently, while switching down to 26-line or single-line modes allows the scanner to resolve finer detail where it's needed.
For features that are difficult to reach — deep holes, recessed pockets, thin walls — Deep Hole Mode adjusts the scanning geometry to maintain line of sight into cavities that would otherwise block the laser.
The result is a scanner that can move between fast, broad-area capture and precise, detailed inspection within the same session, without reconfiguring the part or the equipment.
