QiDi MAX4 3D printer with QiDi BOX in a workshop setting

Production-Ready 3D Printing for Large-Format Functional Parts

Warping happens when a printed part cools unevenly, causing the outer layers to contract faster than the core. This is why the Max4 uses third-generation chamber heating, holding the enclosure at a stable temperature of up to 65°C so the whole part cools at roughly the same rate — preventing the internal stress that pulls prints off the bed or causes layer separation.

That thermal stability matters more as parts get larger, which is where the CoreXY motion system comes in. Because both motors stay stationary and only the belts move the print head, the frame doesn't have to compensate for shifting mass, so dimensional accuracy holds even across a 390 × 390 × 340 mm build volume.

Speed alone would normally introduce ringing and dimensional drift, but FOC closed-loop stepper motors correct motor position in real time, while input shaping compensates for frame vibration before it reaches the part. Together, this is what allows the Max4 to run at speeds up to 800 mm/s without the usual trade-off in surface quality.

Bed levelling is typically where small errors creep in on long prints. The Max4 addresses this with a loadcell sensor built directly into the hotend, measuring the bed surface at actual print height rather than estimating it — meaning the first layer, which is often the difference between a print that finishes and one that fails, is measured rather than assumed.

Because these systems remove the manual intervention points that normally require an operator standing by, they also make genuinely unattended, multi-hour runs viable — supported further by power loss recovery and AI camera monitoring. The machine isn't unattended because no one is watching; it's unattended because the sources of failure have been engineered out ahead of time.

Workflow Advantages

  • 390 × 390 × 340 mm build volume — Take on larger enclosures and assemblies in a single print, without redesigning parts around a smaller bed.
  • 65°C active chamber heating — Print ABS, ASA, and PC with the same reliability as PLA, with warping brought under control rather than left to chance.
  • 800 mm/s maximum print speed — Move through print queues faster, freeing up capacity for client work or product development without adding machines.
  • Hands-free automatic levelling — Start a print and trust the first layer, without stopping your workflow to manually calibrate.
  • AI camera print monitoring — Step away from the machine during long runs, with visibility into progress rather than uncertainty.
  • Power loss recovery — Protect hours of print time and material cost from being lost to something outside your control.
  • 3-in-1 air filtration (G3, HEPA, activated carbon) — Run engineering-grade materials in a shared workspace or office environment while managing air quality.
  • QIDI Box compatibility — Take on multi-colour and multi-material projects as your work requires it, without needing a separate machine.
  • 370°C print head with bimetal nozzle — Work with abrasive and high-temperature filaments, including carbon and glass fibre composites, without added concern about nozzle wear.
